What to do when things fall apart.
One of my all-time favourite authors who has held me with her words during the most challenging times of my life is Pema Chodron. Her words inspire and humble me, and I would suggest she is one of the masters of the realm of healing in the face of life destruction.
“To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in no-man’s-land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh. To live is to be willing to die over and over again.”
― Pema Chödrön
The world is wreaking of opportunity in extremes of chaos, destruction and uncertainty. Wherever we turn, the cycles of this dimension are reflected to us potently. The mind will draw our focus to the pain and suffering, which undoubtedly needs to be honoured but not to be given all our precious attention.
When we always have one eye fixed on getting away from what is and away from here and now. We only have one eye left to figure out our next step from the situation at hand. It will take twice the effort and energy than if we simply allow ourselves to be with what is.
In this video, I talk about the necessity of acceptance in its multiple layers of mind, emotion, body, and spirit to find clarity and courage to take the next steps.
Not comparable to war, slavery or disaster, but still profoundly wounding on a soul level. My childhood brought hurt, pain, abuse, and neglect, which served as fertile ground for embodied compassion and guidance to back the formal qualifications in my work.
Many of the emotional and mental survival mechanisms I developed as a child and teen later became destructive behaviours as an adult. As I studied the different aspects of the human mind, emotions and energetic dimensions beside incredible teachers and mentors, I also explored, integrated, healed and met myself intimately.
I’m sharing this for context because the four steps that I teach you in this video can, at times, appear punitive and insignificant when held up next to the gut-wrenching moments of our life.
I want to assure you that the four steps are simple and exceptionally potent. If embraced with humility and openness, you will see just how incredibly powerful you are as an individual.
When you finish watching, I recommend you head to the top right corner of this page and download the feel free process. While guided by myself, it is a technique that you can practice and learn to eventually do in the moment without guidance.
Don’t ever forget how powerful you are.
